How to Get the Most from Your Reed Diffuser
A luxury reed diffuser is one of the easiest ways to keep your home beautifully fragranced day after day. Unlike candles or wax melts, reed diffusers work continuously, gently releasing fragrance into the air without the need for a flame or electricity.
Whether you've just received your first Coco Reed Diffuser or you're thinking about adding one to your home, these simple tips will help you enjoy it for even longer.
1. Allow time for the fragrance to develop
Once you've removed the stopper and inserted all six reeds, give your diffuser 24–48 hours to fully fragrance the reeds.
The scent will gradually become more noticeable as the fragrance travels to the top of each reed.
2. Turn the reeds regularly
Turning the reeds refreshes the fragrance and gives an instant boost.
We recommend turning them around once a week, or whenever you'd like a stronger scent.
Always do this over a tray or protected surface.
3. Choose the right room
Reed diffusers perform best in spaces with gentle airflow.
Perfect locations include:
- Hallways
- Landings
- Bathrooms
- Home offices
Larger, open-plan rooms may benefit from more than one diffuser to create an even fragrance throughout the space.
4. Keep away from heat
Avoid placing your diffuser:
- On sunny windowsills
- Next to radiators
- Beside fireplaces
Heat will make the fragrance evaporate more quickly, shortening the life of your diffuser.
5. Use reed diffusers and wax melts together
People often ask whether they should choose wax melts or reed diffusers.
The answer is... both.
A reed diffuser provides a beautiful background fragrance every day.
A wax melt fills your home with a richer burst of fragrance when you're relaxing in the evening or entertaining guests.
Together, they create the perfect home fragrance experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my reed diffuser last?
Every home is different, but factors such as room temperature, airflow and how often you turn the reeds will affect how quickly the fragrance is used. Keeping it away from direct heat and sunlight will help maximise its lifespan.
Why can't I smell my diffuser straight away?
The reeds need time to absorb the fragrance. Give it up to 48 hours before judging the scent.
How often should I turn the reeds?
About once a week is ideal for most homes. If you'd like a stronger fragrance, you can turn them a little more often.
Can I reuse the bottle?
Yes. We're planning to introduce refill bottles and replacement reeds in the future, making it even easier to enjoy your favourite Coco fragrance again and again.
